Crocs women's sandals - olive
From the shipbuilders to the stage
Crocs is literally a brand you either love or hate. But the fact is that flip-flops and sandals made of synthetic materials and rubber are sold like hotcakes all over the world. Customers of all ages appreciate their flexibility, casualness, simplicity and colourfulness all in one.
Crocs, the company producing typical perforated shoes, was founded in Colorado, USA, and originally wanted to produce shoes for high school and college students. The models, which were later patented in dozens of countries around the world, were purchased by Lyndon „Duke“ Hanson and George Boedecker Jr. from an unknown company called Foam Creations. The original purpose of their shoes was to provide footwear for boaters, fishermen, and anyone who had anything to do with water. The first prototype of Crocs called „Beach“ was introduced at a boat show in Florida in 2001, and the first 200 pairs were sold immediately after the show ended. Today, sales have exceeded 300 million pairs....
Medical benefit
It was in June 2004 when Crocs bought out the aforementioned Foam Creations to secure the exclusive rights to further, improved prototypes of the rubber and „foam“ footwear. The foam footwear they later brought out with the „Eva foam“ technology was praised by podiatrists (doctors who specialise in foot diseases) for the way it adapts to the wearer´s foot. This had a medical benefit too, according to them, which is why Crocs began to be widely used by medical professionals. Since then, Crocs has had to sue several times in several countries to maintain its patents. On the other hand, it has obtained several trademark registrations for the sale of non-shoe products.
Simply coloured Crocs
Crocs footwear is manufactured in many styles and colours. The classic, basic style can be found in up to 20 shades. Mostly, these models are of single colour; fewer are produced in colour combinations. Crocs shoes cover men´s, women´s as well as children´s ranges. That is why we could see former US President George Bush Jr. as well as former US First Lady Michelle Obama wearing them at public. Prince George, son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, has become a prominent children´s ambassador for Crocs. He once appeared at a charity event in dark blue Crocs. A week later, online sales were up for 1500%...
